Tip #1 When laying out a design, eliminate frustration and wasted time by using a sky blue colored pencil. It can be used to determine where everything should go before you commit to it with ink. The blue should be similar in color to the lines of graph paper. You can then photocopy the drawing in a black and white setting and the lines won’t be picked up in the process. Neat and clean without a hint of amateur.

Tip #2 During the site visit, don’t forget to take pictures of the roof line as well. You can use the photos to make accurate lines in the design.

Tip #3 Think about the plant in regards to the actual space that it occupies before taking into account the other characteristics. If a plant is going to outgrow or fail to occupy well the space, no matter what the great qualities it has, it will pose a perpetual “space issue.”

Tip #4 Get that artistic look with the ease of Chartpak or Prismacolor markers. For a clean, solid color the Prismacolor marker is great. To take it to that next step of artistic presentation, the Chartpak marker offers the ability to blend and layer like a pro.
